OMI Workshops Since its inception, the OMI has maintained a focus on developing and growing a statewide Marriage and Relationship Education Service Delivery System (SDS) designed to deliver relationship education services to couples, both married and unmarried, that are skills-based and research-based. Low-income families, including TANF recipients, benefit from these relationship workshops as well. Advisors and trained workshop leaders maintain a commitment to providing equal access for various populations by working with PREP to develop several population-specific adaptations, which include the same core themes but incorporate illustrations and applications appropriate for different groups. Participation in these marriage education workshops provide Oklahomans with the tools and encouragement to build strong and healthy marriages, in effect reducing the state's number of non-marital births, and thus the number of single parents and poverty that so often are the result.
